How to install an eSIM before you fly (iPhone & Android)
The best time to install a travel eSIM is at home, on Wi-Fi, a day or two before you fly. Installing only adds the eSIM to your phone; your plan normally starts when it first connects to a network at your destination.
1. Check your phone
- Your phone must support eSIM — most recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S/Z/A-series models and Google Pixels do. See our compatible devices list.
- Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it on a contract, ask your network whether it is locked.
- Quick check: dial *#06#. If you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM.
2. Buy your plan
Pick your destination in the eSIM store — for example Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, India or Bangladesh. After payment, the QR code appears on screen and is emailed to you.
3. Install on iPhone
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings → Mobile Data (or Cellular) → Add eSIM.
- Choose Use QR Code and scan the QR code from your email (show it on another screen or print it). On iPhone you may also be able to tap the install link in your order instead.
- Label the new line something like “Travel”.
- For now, keep your main line as the default for mobile data.
4. Install on Android (Samsung, Pixel)
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM. Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM / Download a SIM.
- Scan the QR code and confirm.
- Leave it switched off or not used for data until you land.
5. When you land
- Turn the travel eSIM line on.
- Set it as your mobile data line.
- Turn on Data Roaming for the travel eSIM line.
- Optional: turn off data roaming on your home SIM to avoid roaming charges.
Not connecting?
- Check data roaming is ON for the travel eSIM.
- Check the travel eSIM is selected as the mobile data line.
- Restart your phone, or switch airplane mode on and off.
Still stuck? Email support@traveltrip.world with your order ID. If your eSIM does not work and we cannot fix it together, you get your money back — see our refund policy.
Important
- Do not delete the eSIM after installing; a QR code can normally only be installed once.
- Your WhatsApp stays on your normal number — the eSIM only provides data.
