India eSIM for travellers: what to know before you land
Getting a local SIM in India as a visitor usually means paperwork and waiting for activation. A travel eSIM avoids that: you buy online, install before you fly, and have data when you land in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru or anywhere else covered.
Good to know
- Data only: perfect for WhatsApp, maps, ride-hailing and video calls. It does not give you an Indian phone number.
- Keep your home number active for bank OTPs while the eSIM handles data.
- Validity normally starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.
