Japan eSIM: data for trains, maps and translation
In Japan you'll lean on train route apps, maps and translation tools. A travel eSIM installed before you fly means you're online on arrival at Narita, Haneda or Kansai.
Good to know
- Data only. You get mobile internet for maps, messaging apps, ride-hailing and video calls, but no local phone number.
- Keep your own number. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and bank text codes. Turn off its data roaming to avoid charges.
- Translation apps use data. Camera translation and maps are the biggest data users for most visitors.

- Heavy video or hotspot: 50 GB for 30 days.
Setup in three steps
- Choose a plan on the plan page and pay by card or PayPal.
- Scan the QR code on Wi-Fi before you fly. Your plan normally starts when it first connects at your destination.
