Umrah eSIM: staying connected in Makkah and Madinah
During Umrah you will want data for the Nusuk app, maps between your hotel and the Haram, WhatsApp with your group and family, and transport bookings. A Saudi Arabia travel eSIM lets you be online the moment you land in Jeddah or Madinah — no SIM counter queue after a long flight.
Why pilgrims choose an eSIM
- Install before you leave home. Set it up calmly on your home Wi-Fi, not in a busy arrivals hall.
- Keep your own number. Family can still reach you on WhatsApp on your usual number.
- Nothing to lose. No tiny SIM card to keep track of while in ihram.
- Data only. Our Saudi plans are mobile data. If you need a Saudi phone number, you would need a local SIM.

How much data for a typical Umrah?
- 7–10 days, messages, maps and the odd photo: 3 GB for 15 days is usually enough.
- Two weeks with daily video calls home: 10 GB for 30 days.
- Leading a family or group, sharing hotspot: 20 GB for 30 days.
Hotels usually have Wi-Fi, so your data mostly covers time outside — between the hotel, the Haram, ziyarat trips and the airport.
Practical tips for pilgrims
- Check your phone supports eSIM and is not network-locked (compatible devices).
- Install the eSIM at home a day or two before you fly. Do not delete it afterwards.
- On landing, set the travel eSIM as your mobile-data line and switch on data roaming for it.
- Keep a screenshot of your hotel address and group leader's details in case your battery runs low.
- Bring a power bank — maps and calls drain batteries quickly in the heat.
