How to choose a travel eSIM
Updated · prices in USD from our live catalog
Short answer: Pick the destination first, then a validity that covers your whole trip, then a data allowance that matches how you use your phone. On TravelTrip World, popular destinations have prepaid plans from about $4.99 USD in our live catalog. Check that your phone is eSIM-capable and unlocked before you pay.
1. Confirm your phone
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Dial *#06# and look for an EID, or use our compatible devices list.
2. Match the destination
Buy a single-country plan if you stay in one place. For multi-country trips in Europe, a regional Europe eSIM is usually simpler than one plan per border. For wide itineraries, see Global eSIM.
3. Match validity to your trip
Choose a plan that lasts at least as many days as you will be away. Validity normally starts when the eSIM first connects at the destination, so you can install it at home over Wi‑Fi.
4. Estimate data
- Maps, messaging and light browsing: often around 0.5–1 GB per day.
- Video calls, hotspot and streaming: much more — consider a higher fixed plan or an Unlimited* day pass.
5. Understand Unlimited*
Some plans are labelled Unlimited*. That means high-speed data up to a daily allowance shown on the card (for example 1 GB/Day), then slower speeds may apply for the rest of the day. Read the fair-use note on the plan. See Unlimited eSIM explained.
6. Hotspot and top-up
Most plans allow personal hotspot, but it depends on the local network and is not guaranteed. When prepaid data or validity ends, buy another plan — the website does not offer automatic mid-plan top-up.

Questions
Should I buy before I fly?
Yes. Install over Wi‑Fi at home, leave the eSIM off, then turn it on with data roaming for the eSIM when you land.
Do you publish competitor comparison prices?
No. We only show our own live catalog prices so the figures stay accurate.
Does a travel eSIM include a phone number?
No. These plans are data-only. Your main SIM stays in the phone, so your usual number keeps working for calls and texts where your home carrier allows it, and messaging apps work over the eSIM data.
Is my phone compatible?
You need an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone. Check the compatible devices list, or dial *#06# and look for an EID number.
When does the plan start?
Validity normally starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, so you can install it at home before you fly.
